Keep the Tattoo Covered
Leave the bandage on for a minimum of 2 hours. If SecondSkin was used, keep it on for 2-4 days.
When you remove your bandage, wash your hands first with antibacterial soap. Remove your SecondSkin in the shower, allow water to wash over the tattoo and SecondSkin as you remove it.
If you experience leakage, remove the SecondSkin.
Washing Your Tattoo
Once the bandages are off, gently wash the tattoo with alcohol-free, fragrance-free, antibacterial liquid soap and lukewarm water, using only your hands, remove as much of the discharge as possible.
The discharge can cause scabbing when it dries and complicate the healing process. Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Apply a thin layer of unscented lotion or tattoo ointment (as recommended by your artist) 1-2 times daily for a minimum of two weeks.
Do NOT re-bandage, use Vaseline, petroleum jelly, Neosporin or any products with alcohol or fragrance in them.
Scabbing and Peeling
After a few days, you may notice some peeling and possibly a little scabbing. If it is peeling, put lotion on it.
If it is scabbing, leave it alone.
You may also start to itch when it begins to heal, but do not pick or scratch your tattoo, as this can lead to infection, scarring and ink loss.
